Winter time fishing has been in full swing. Then go-to targeted fish this time of year is Sheepshead. This convict striped fish are in the Porgy family and they feed 100 percent on crustations. The bait we use for them almost exclusively is shrimp. Sheepshead can get up to 8 pounds in the Tampa Bay area and average about 2-3 pounds. Sheepshead are very underrated for some reason. In my opinion they are very fun to catch and they are delicious to eat. We fish for them mostly inshore and near shore and they live in or around structure. This means we are fishing bridges, docks, or reefs when we are targeting them.
